St. Charles Hockey Club is a member of the Castledowns Bingo Association, with all our Bingos being held at Castldowns Bingo Hall which is located at 12222 137 Avenue. We are scheduled to work one bingo per month, with some months having two.

These bingo’s are St. Charles’s major source of revenue, which makes it imperative that everyone works their scheduled bingos that are assigned to them at registration. We are required to supply a set number of workers for each bingo. Some bingo’s that are special events require more workers than regular bingo’s. If we are short the required number of workers, our club can be fined up to $150.00 per person or possibly lose a bingo.

The procedures to working a bingo are as follows:

  • All workers are required to be at the Bingo hall at their scheduled times. Times will vary depending on position being held for that bingo. Generally most workers will be starting at 4:45 pm, and working until 12:00 am. Some bingos are special events, so workers can be required to start by 4:30 pm. You will receive a call prior to your bingo as a reminder. At this time, you will be advised on what time you are required to start. Keep in mind that you will be given your bingo dates at registration and please mark these dates on your calendars.
  • All card sellers are required to walk the floor, while selling their Bonanzas, Odd/Evens, Satellites and Zip cards.
  • Be sure to order you food 5 – 10 minutes before your break. If you miss your break, please let the bingo chairperson know.
  • Your break is 15 minutes. Please watch this carefully, because others are scheduled to go after you. We also must have a set number of workers on the floor at all times.
  • Smoke breaks are allowed during your scheduled break.
  • Please do not disturb the bingo patrons. If complaints are received, we can be fined.

It is imperative that you show up to work your bingo. If you are not able to work, please try and find a replacement. If this cannot be done, please call the Bingo Chairperson immediately. If no call is received, your cheque will be cashed the next day. St. Charles is fortunate to be able to pick up extra bingo’s through the year, because we know we can rely on the commitment that our parents bring to our club every year. So there may be times that you could receive a phone call to work an extra bingo for our club. In doing so, you are enabling us to meet our financial obligations and provide more for our players, because that is what our club is all about.
