Coach Selection

During evaluations, Category Directors will be taking names for coaching candidates.  Each potential candidate must fill out a SCHC Volunteer Application Form. Once formal evaluations are complete, the Coach Selection Process will follow Section 11 & 12 of the St. Charles Policy Handbook

Team Selection

Selection process will follow the Policy Handbook.  The number of players on each team will be based on number of registrations and evaluations scores.

  • The bottom 3 scores on one team and the top 3 scores on the team below that will be considered the “bubble score”.
  • This means that these children could be placed on either the higher or lower team.
  • This decision will be made by the directors after seeking input from the Coach and the Team Formation Committee

Each coach will have an opportunity to have one practice with the mandatory players as well as the players with bubble scores.  The practice will consist of 20 min drills / 40 min game.

Depending on the size of the team, players are placed on a team in the first 11/12 spots regardless of position.  The bubble score players will fill out the roster based on needs of the team.

Rep Cuts & Missed Skates

Every year, cuts from the KC rep program occur at the same time as our evaluations.  Working with KC Hockey, SCHC will attempt to obtain their evaluation results and have the players skate as many times as possible with SCHC before placing these players.    In addition, we understand that some kids will miss skates due to scheduling conflicts. As these players will not have 4 skates, SCHC will do their best on placing these players on the correct team.
