New body contact rules ('head shots') PDF Print

Starting immediately this upcoming 2011/2012 hockey season, Hockey Canada’s new head contact rule will be implemented to cut down on the number of concussions and other serious injuries suffered in the game.

This new rule will be assessed based on a zero tolerance policy for contact above the shoulders.

There is no question that reducing the number of 'head shots' in hockey - especially among young hockey players - is something that St. Charles fully supports, and we encourage all parents to review this material with their players.

You can read the full bulletin from Hockey Alberta (PDF) or view a video that provides more information on the new rule
